DESCRIPTION

The stump of a baby's umbilical (um-BILL-uh-cul) cord (at the belly button or navel) usually falls off after 1 to 3 weeks.

SYMPTOMS
|
|
Watch for infection. If the area near the stump is reddened, swollen, or drains green or yellow liquid, call the doctor.
|

CARE
|
|
Immediately If... Your baby has a high temperature.
|
