A colonoscopy (co-lun-OS-co-pee) is a procedure that lets your doctor inspect the inside of your colon (also called the bowel, gut, or large intestine) with a soft tube inserted through your rectum.

CARE

Immediately If... You begin to have bright red bleeding from your rectum. You feel dizzy or short of breath, or you faint. You have vomiting and sharp pain in your abdomen.

COMPLICATIONS

|
s It's possible that your colon could be injured during the test. To avoid problems, be sure to follow your doctor's instructions very carefully.
