Broken Elbow |
| |
DESCRIPTION
A bone fracture in your elbow can take weeks or months to heal.
CAUSES
Most broken elbows are sustained in a fall or accident.
SYMPTOMS
You may have pain, swelling, bruising, or bleeding at the elbow. Your arm may feel weak, numb, or tingly, and it may be difficult or impossible to move.
CARE
The doctor will order an x-ray of the broken bone. A splint or cast will usually be put on your arm to keep the bones from moving. Your doctor may give you pain medicine. Surgery may be necessary if you have a bad fracture. A second x-ray will probably be taken to make sure the elbow has healed.
